چکیده
Introduction: In amphibians, blood may act as a hematopoietic tissue. However, the knowledge concerning hematological features is scarce, there not much information that allows an analysis about possible explanations of this physiological feature. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate relationship between immature red cells (RBCs) mitosis and presence parasites in amphibians. Methods: We sampled 116 amphibians (31 species) six Colombian localities. Blood was taken by cardiac puncture or maxillary vein puncture. Smears were prepared, fixed, Giemsa stained for microscopical analysis. The variables analyzed percentage RBCs, mitotic peripheral blood, parasite infection. Data using Wilcoxon's rank test exact Fisher statistical tests. Results: Sixty-two individuals showed these RBCs shared morphological with RBCs. Overall, prevalence 30.1 %, distributed follows: Trypanosoma (24.1 %), Hepatozoon-like (6 Dactylosoma (4.3 Karyolysus-like (0.9 Filarioidea (2.6 %). A positive association found, also infection Conclusions: study, we found parasites, are frequent events amphibians' our suggests those features. Thus, release be response Further studies characterizing hematology wildlife, general, desirable.

Preferential Hemolysis of Immature Erythrocytes
The findings indicate that experimental iron deficiency anemia is associated with hemolysis of red cells of various ages, but with preferential destruction of the youngest cells. Degradation of hemoglobin from reticulocytes is sufficient to account for a major fraction of the increase in erythropoietic bilirubin production found in this disorder, as has also been shown for physiologically regul...
متن کاملHistone acetylation in chicken erythrocytes. Rates of deacetylation in immature and mature red blood cells.
We analysed the rates of histone deacetylation in chicken mature and immature red blood cells. A multiplicity of deacetylation rates was observed for the histones and these rates may be subdivided into two major categories based on the extent of histone acetylation. In one set of experiments, cells were labelled with [3H]acetate in the presence of the deacetylase inhibitor n-butyrate, thereby a...
متن کاملEvolved pesticide tolerance influences susceptibility to parasites in amphibians
Because ecosystems throughout the globe are contaminated with pesticides, there is a need to understand how natural populations cope with pesticides and the implications for ecological interactions. From an evolutionary perspective, there is evidence that pesticide tolerance can be achieved via two mechanisms: selection for constitutive tolerance over multiple generations or by inducing toleran...
متن کاملChecklist of nematode parasites of amphibians from Argentina.
This review includes information about 47 taxa of nematode parasites reported from 34 species of Argentinean amphibians, all belonging to order Anura (33 native species and 1 introduced species). Thirty four nematode species have been reported as adults and 13 species were reported as larvae (10 taxa) or juveniles (3 taxa). Two species, Cosmocerca parva and C. podicipinus (Cosmocercidae), colle...
متن کاملChecklist of Helminth parasites of Amphibians from South America.
Parasitological studies on helminths of amphibians in South America have increased in the past few years. Here, we present a list with summarized data published on helminths of South American amphibians from 1925 to 2012, including a list of helminth parasites, host species, and geographic records. We found 194 reports of helminths parasitizing 185 amphibian species from eleven countries: Argen...
